Congressional Office

Our Congressional Office in Washington, D.C., provides legislative oversight training to congressional staff and committee clerks, coordinates our Legal Summer Internship Program, leads our Carl Levin Award for Effective Oversight, and tracks current case law affecting Congress’ oversight powers.

State Oversight Academy

The Levin Center’s State Oversight Academy provides oversight workshops and training across to state legislatures across the country. It houses the unique State Legislature Oversight Wiki, created an online and on-demand oversight training course, and provides state elected officials and their staff with a wealth of resources and materials on how to conduct oversight in their states.

Civic Education

Our civic education program Learning by Hearings provides free lesson plans, classroom materials, and videos to high school social studies teachers in Michigan and beyond. Our team hosts professional development opportunities for educators and provides  extracurricular  mock oversight hearings to engage future voters.

Research and Scholarship

We support research and scholarship through our Elise J. Bean Oversight Fellowship program, recognize outstanding scholarly paper with the yearly Levin Center Awards for Excellence in Oversight Research, build and maintain a database of congressional oversight reports, and provide many opportunities for scholars to engage with each other and find synergies in their work.
